One of the best testaments to quality design is simple — does it last?
In 2015 we were commissioned by University of the Arts London to design furniture for their canteen space at Camberwell College of Arts. A table, stool, bench and stackable chair. Reclaimed Douglas Fir sourced, machined and finessed within a 7 mile radius of the college, paired with British grown Ash from National Trust continuous cover forestry in the South West.
From Camberwell to Chelsea to Lime Grove. Three institutions, thousands of students daily, over a decade of continuous use. Solid timber, honest joinery, enduring quality.
A decade on, not a single piece has returned to our Woolwich workshop due to defective workmanship. Not one. The table tops refreshed with additional finish — necessary nourishment for a decade of daily use.
When something is made with genuine care, people feel it. They look after it. That relationship between maker and owner is where real longevity lives.
Commission well. Invest in enduring quality. Long live well designed furniture.
Much love to and all the project design team in accommodation catering and retail who got us involved back in 2015. Images

Bowater cabinet with signature ripple handle.
This double fronted beauty combines an Olive Ash cabinet with incredible Brown Oak, a special piece created for After multiple coats of burnished oil, the cabinet develops a luscious sheen that illuminates the oak’s beauty.
Brown oak is naturally coloured by the bracket fungus Fistulina Hepatica, commonly known as the beef steak fungus. Once oiled, it showcases the complex colour and grain structure, revealing intricate patterns and flavoursome hues.
If the rhythm, the flow, and the feeling of our Bowater Cabinet stimulate your senses, enquire about creating a bespoke piece of your own.
