Whether it's genocide, apartheid, or Jim Crow 2.0 at home, my answer is the same: HECK NO!!!
"A threat to justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." After I spoke out against about what is taking place in Palestine, the Israeli government barred me from entering the occupied territory.
Silence has never been an option. Justice doesn't stop at borders. Neither will I.
Imagine risking your life just so people could receive healthcare.
My grandfather, Dr. Roy C. Bell, one of Atlanta’s first Black dentists and a principal leader in the desegregation of Grady Memorial Hospital Grady Health System—paving the way for the integration of hospitals across America—treated patients while carrying a firearm for protection.
Not because he was dangerous. Because racism and standing against segregation was.
Every patient he served and every barrier he broke came with real threats to his life. He understood that access to healthcare is a civil right worth fighting for.
His courage reminds us that the freedoms we often take for granted were earned by people willing to risk everything so others could simply receive care with dignity.
