ELECTION BILL: The Nigerian Senate has passed the Electoral Act 2022 (Repeal and Re-enactment) Amendment Bill 2026 but rejected a proposal that would have made real-time electronic transmission of election results mandatory. Lawmakers retained INEC’s authority to determine how results are transmitted, reduced the election notice period to 180 days, shortened candidate submission deadlines to 90 days, retained PVC as the approved voter identification, and adopted BVAS for voter accreditation.
