Nuku Rugby 2026 – Community Work

As part of our off-season program this year, we kicked things off with community work at our tikina primary school, Nuku District School.
The team helped cut the grass, clean the school compound, and tidy up all the classrooms yesterday, ahead of the start of the 2026 school year today.

As we come to the end of 2025, we pause to reflect with gratitude and pride on the journey we’ve shared together as one Nuku family.

This year was filled with hard work, commitment, growth, and strong village unity — from our players on the field, to our coaches, management, supporters, families, and community who stood with us every step of the way.

A heartfelt vinaka vakalevu to everyone who supported the team throughout the season, whether through encouragement, time, prayers, resources, or simply showing up. Your support means everything to us.

NUKU RUGBY | HOLIDAY TIKINA FESTIVAL 🏉🌱

Yesterday, we held another exciting training session for our young ruggers of Tikina Nuku, together with neighbouring villages as part of the Nuku Holiday Tikina Festival.

Villages represented:
📍 Natogadravu
📍 Naselai
📍 Dravuni
📍 Vanuadina

The session included Tag Rugby and T1 games, giving our young players the chance to learn, compete, and enjoy the game in a fun and safe environment.

• U8 – U12
• U14 – U18

It was great to see both boys and girls participating, building skills, confidence, teamwork, and friendship across villages.

Last night we had a small end-of-the-year party for the team. It was a great time to unwind, reflect, and celebrate everything we achieved throughout the season.

We gathered together and shared a few speeches from our Team Captain, Manager, Coaches, and Team President. Their words of encouragement and appreciation truly reminded us how far we’ve come as a team.

Our players also exchanged gifts — a simple but meaningful way to keep our bond strong as brothers and sisters of Nuku Rugby. 🤝🎁

NUKU RUGBY GRASSROOTS PROGRAM 🌱🏉
Holiday Training for All Young Nuku Ruggers!

As the school holidays begin across Fiji, our Coaches and Trainer are launching a grassroots rugby program open to both boys and girls in our community.

If your kids are at home with not much to do, bring them down for some fun, fitness, and rugby basics. It’s a great way for them to stay active, learn new skills, and be part of the growing Nuku Rugby family.

📍 Location: Natogadravu Village Ground
⏰ Time: Every afternoon from 3pm – 5pm
👧🏽👦🏽 Open to all kids — girls and boys welcome!

Parents, we encourage you to send your children along to make the most of their holiday in a positive, safe, and healthy environment.

From his humble beginnings at Nuku Rugby Club to shining in the Skipper Cup with Malolo Rugby, Tomasi’s journey continues to rise to new heights.

We are excited to share that Tomasi has been selected for the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s Development Squad that is heading to South Korea for a high-performance training camp! 🇫🇯✈️🇰🇷

This amazing program is fully funded by the Korean Rugby Union, reflecting a strong partnership and a shared commitment to growing world-class rugby talent.

Tomasi and the squad will gain:
🏉 International exposure
🏟️ Access to top-class training facilities
🔥 A new environment to test and elevate their skills

These are all crucial steps in building the next generation of Fijian 7s stars—and we’re proud to see Tomasi among them.

✈️ Fiji Airways Fijian 7s Development Squad Heads to Korea! 🇫🇯🇰🇷

Exciting times ahead for our Fiji Airways Fijian 7s Development squad as they depart for South Korea for a high–performance training camp!

This incredible opportunity is fully funded by the Korean Rugby Union, showcasing the growing partnership and mutual commitment to developing world-class rugby talent.

Our young athletes will gain valuable international exposure, train in top-class facilities, and test themselves in a new environment—all crucial steps in building the next generation of Fijian 7s stars. 🌟🏉

Vinaka vakalevu to the Korean Rugby Union for their support and belief in our programme.

Many may know Tomasi Tawake today after Malolo Rugby’s recent Skipper Cup victory, but his rugby journey began with humble roots.

Tomasi started his career in 2023 with Capital Insurance Nuku Rugby Club, while living in Naselai Village under the care of the late Methodist Church pastor, Epi Nabou.

He first represented Nuku’s U21 team at the Marist 7s, where they reached the quarterfinals, before joining the Nuku 15s team in the 2024 Tailevu Club competition, making it to the Tier 2 elimination final against Natakali.

Tomasi also proudly represented the Tailevu Under-20 Rugby Team last year.

This year, while working at Malolo Resort, he was called up to join the Malolo Rugby Team, where his talent and determination shone through—helping the team to win the Skipper Cup.

Recently, Tomasi earned a call-up to the Fiji 7s training squad, a huge achievement that reflects his hard work and passion for the game.
