Functions of the Brain:

The left and right sides of the brain has 2 distinctive function.

Here is a list of the functions attributed to each hemisphere:

• Left brain: sequential, detail, words, logical, numbers, measurement, recall, grammar, patterns, literal meaning, content, name recall, time awareness, components, science, math

• Right brain: simultaneous, holistic, pictures, intuitive, shapes, motion, imagination, intonation/emphasis, accents, abstract meaning, context, face recognition, spatial awareness, objects, art, music

It is important to note that this is a simplified view of the brain, and both hemispheres work together to perform many tasks. For example, language processing involves both the left and right hemispheres.

Here is a more nuanced view of the functions of the left and right hemispheres:

• Left hemisphere: specializes in analytical thinking, language processing, mathematics, and logic.

• Right hemisphere: specializes in spatial awareness, pattern recognition, musical ability, and creative skills.

So, while the left hemisphere may be better at tasks that require logic and analysis, the right hemisphere is essential for creativity and imagination.
