Building safer families through awareness

Addis Guzo conducted a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness training for parents participating in our rehabilitation program.

The session focused on increasing awareness of the causes and consequences of GBV while encouraging respect, equality, and inclusion. Through open discussions and shared learning, both mothers and fathers gained practical knowledge to help create safer, more supportive environments for their children, families, and communities.

Together, we continue to promote dignity, protection, and inclusion for all.

As a core part of this launch, Addis Ability also introduces its Training & Consultation Center, offering hands-on, practical CPD courses to provide accredited, high-quality training for rehabilitation professionals such as junior PTs and OTs. We are excited to highlight their first two upcoming courses:

1. "Foundation Course I – Introduction to Pediatric Rehabilitation"
Target: Junior Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working with children and their families.
Overview: This course serves as the first in a series of three interrelated foundation courses designed to support professional know-how when it comes to working with children in the early stages of child development (0–5 years) and introduces the core principles of pediatric rehabilitation for children with delayed development and disabilities. The curriculum builds upon existing theoretical knowledge, expanding and updating it, with a heavy focus on hands-on practical exercises.

2. "Clinical Mobility Support, Safe Handling & Postural Management"
Target Group: Primarily physiotherapists and occupational therapists, nurses as well as related health professionals, who in their daily work have contact with wheelchair users or are involved in the process of wheelchair service delivery.
Overview: This Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course equips healthcare and rehabilitation professionals with the knowledge and practical skills required to support the effective use of mobility aids and postural management. Participants will develop competencies in seating and positioning, safe handling and transfers, as well as prevention of secondary complications, and the education and empowerment of caregivers and families.
The course combines evidence-based theory with practical application, enabling participants to provide safe, functional, and person-centered mobility and positioning solutions that enhance participation, independence, comfort, and quality of life.
