The Chartered Institute of Building’s (CIOB) Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA) event has been moved online for 2020.

The CIOB said it had made the decision to move this year’s CMYA celebration evening to a virtual event, as more restrictions are imposed in the UK to limit gatherings.

It said the virtual format would allow it to “safely deliver these important celebrations in a new and exciting way” and that it remained committed to celebrating the work of the industry and the finalists’ inspirational achievements.

In the first half of 2020, the Ethiopia-Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway has seen a 51 percent rise in revenues, despite the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, it was disclosed. The railway’s revenue had increased 45 percent in 2019 compared to that of 2018 and has seen a rise of 51.38 percent in the first half of 2020, compared to the same period of the previous year.

A Chinese construction firm, SINOMA Engineering, has started constructing a new industrial park in Hawassa town, the regional capital of the newly formed Sidama regional state.

Hired by the Hawassa Textile and Industrial Park S.C., SINOMA Engineering will undertake the construction of the garment industrial park. In the past, Sinoma has built the Dangote Cement factory and was involved the development of the Hawassa and Dire Dawa industrial parks. News Credit: The Reporter
