As of 10 April 2026, the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is now fully operational — and it’s changing how short-term mobility into Spain works.

Passport stamps are gone, replaced by a centralised biometric system that tracks entries, exits and calculates the 90/180-day rule in real time.

What does this mean in practice?

🔹 Business travel is now fully visible, even without work permits
🔹 Overstays (even accidental) are immediately detected
🔹 Border controls may take longer due to biometric registration
