Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world in terms of area.
Its area is 8.5 million square kilometers and includes 26 states and one federal district.... Its capital is Brasilia.
Some attributed the origin of its inhabitants to the Indians who arrived from the island of Palau, but most attributed their origin to Africa.
It declared its independence from Portugal following the military coup and in 1889 established the first Brazilian Republic.
