يعتبر مصطلح الميديا الجديدة مصطلحاً شاملاً يجمع بين الأشكال الفنية التي يتم انتاجها أو تعديلها أو نقلها عن طريق الوسائط الجديدة و التكنولوجيا الرقمية - أو بمعنى أوسع - هي الاستفادة من "الجديد" و التكنولوجيا المتأصلة الناشئة من سياقات علمية ،اجتماعية، سياسية او صناعية ، جنباً إلى جنب مع التأكيد على كل ما هو "جديد".
