If you’re a doula who was taught the classic double hip squeeze, chances are you learned it the same way I did ~ hands on the back of the pelvis, pressing in hard.

🙊 And I’m here to gently say… there’s a better way.

When we do the traditional “double hip squeeze” at the back of the pelvis, we’re using a lot of effort with very little biomechanical payoff. I’m a “work smarter, not harder” kind of gal and I don’t know about you, but my doula muscles have definitely been sore the next day after hours of squeezing.

In my early days, it was one of the main comfort tools I had, so I felt like I had to use it at every birth. But if we’re going to use our strength to create space in the pelvis, let’s make sure we’re directing that effort in a way that actually creates space where it’s needed.

💡And if it’s just about comfort? There are so many gentle, effective techniques that don’t require Herculean effort.

✨ Try this instead:
➡️ Bring your hands forward to the front of the pelvis
➡️ Find the ASIS (the front hip bones)
➡️ Place your hands just behind them and squeeze inward
➡️ Hold through the contraction, release between

👉 This opens the lower mid pelvis and pelvic outlet — way more effective for descent when baby is already engaged.

⚠️ Still early in labor and baby’s high in the pelvis (above 0 station)? Skip this one for now. At BRM, we use tools like the inlet-opening sacral press to help baby drop down first.

Den første mælk ❤️🤱

Der er mange fordele at lære hvordan man håndudmalker. Her er nogle af dem.
- lindrer ved fyldt bryst.
- blødgør brystet så mælken løber og barnet nemmere kan få ved.
- malke ud til barnet, til når og hvis man skal være adskilt fra sit barn.
- stimulere til at opretholde eller øget mælkeproduktion.

Jeg tilbyder ammevejledning både i graviditeten og mere målrettet når barnet er født.
