A surprise — and one that couldn't have worked out better!
With songs like Knocking Down the Wall and My Man Is a Mean Man, Stefanie Heinzmann absolutely lit up the stage.

Our first Heimspiel at Stuttgart’s Phoenix Hall got off to a wonderful start last night, with Magnus Lindgren, Lionel Loueke and Stefanie Heinzmann joining us on stage.

It was a joy to make music together and share such a special evening with these exceptional artists.

Were you there when we shared the stage with Calum Scott at last year's SWR3 New Pop Festival?

Not only is he an exceptional artist, he's also one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. In fact, after the concert he jokingly asked if he could keep the SWR Big Band. How lovely is that?

Calum is back in Stuttgart tonight, performing at the Porsche-Arena at 18.30pm.

So here's a question for you: wouldn't it be fantastic to see more collaborations between Calum Scott and the SWR Big Band in the future?

Auch nehmen wir Abschied von Sonny Rollins.
Der legendäre Saxophonist, der den Jazz seit den 1940er-Jahren entscheidend geprägt und weiterentwickelt hat, verstarb im Alter von 95 Jahren.

We'll celebrate the life and music of Miles Davis, who would have turned 100 this week and are deeply saddened by the passing of Sonny Rollins.
The legendary saxophonist, who helped shape and redefine jazz from the 1940s onwards, has died at the age of 95.

To honour his remarkable legacy, we've unearthed special recordings from our archives featuring the Südfunk Dance Orchestra, Erwin Lehn and the SWR Big Band.

Expect historic recordings with the Südfunk Dance Orchestra, as well as modernmusic by Giovanni Costello, Dieter Thomas Kuhn and selections from our Kings of Swing programme. And last but not least a track from the SWR Big Band's latest album The Invisible Piano.
