Botanically, a berry is a fruit that develops from a single flower with one o***y and has seeds embedded in its fleshy interior.

A banana fits that definition.

A strawberry does not, because its red flesh is actually enlarged flower tissue. The small “seeds” on the outside are the true fruits, called achenes.
