What’s your take on that? Can women “have it all”?

On the Forbes annual list of the world’s 50 highest paid athletes, only one woman appeared. landed at number 49. It’s likely this will be Serena’s last appearance on the list, as she made the decision to retire from tennis in 2022 to fully commit herself to her family.

“Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity,” Williams has said.

There is no one size fits all scenario for women choosing to have a family, career, or both. You can be one of the most accomplished athletes in history, and still have to consider what works best for you. Bravo to Serena Williams for lending her voice to the extraordinary powers of women who CAN do it all, and also for empowering those who make the choice to walk away.
