🤍 This year's line-up of the FUTURE FRAMES – Generation NEXT of European Cinema program, a collaboration between European Film Promotion (EFP) and Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), offering the selection of the most outstanding emerging directors across Europe, once again features a Czech filmmaker, director Marie Lukáčová (UMPRUM / Vysoká škola uměleckoprůmyslová v Praze), with her latest short 🎬 ORLA, an eco-feminist fairytale musical produced by Klára Mamojková and Wanda Kaprálová of CLAW films, premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam earlier this year. Lukáčová is the ninth young Czech director selected for the FUTURE FRAMES program since its original inception.

🤍 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), running from 3 to 11 July 2026, has revealed the selection of the three key sections of its upcoming 60th edition – the Crystal Globe Competition, the Proxima Competition, and the Special Screenings! 👏

🏆 The Crystal Globe Competition, the main competition program of the festival, hosts three Czech world premieres this year: 🎬 Chica Checa (Czech Republic, Slovakia, France), a new feature film by Šimon Holý, produced by Alžběta Janáčková of SilkFilms, 🎬 Only Beautiful Things to Look At (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary) directed by Ivan Ostrochovský and produced by Punkchart Films (SK) and Pavel Strnad and Petr Oukropec of the Czech company Negativ Film Productions, and 🎬 Fruit Gathering (Myanmar, Czech Republic, France), a debut feature by Aung Phyoe, co-produced by Vít Janeček of D1film on the Czech side.

🏆 Furthermore, the Proxima section offers 🎬 Lover, Not a Fighter (Slovakia, Czech Republic), a debut feature by Martina Buchelová, produced by Ninja Films (SK) and Julie Marková Žáčková of NOCHI FILM (CZ), and 🎬 33 Steps (Slovakia, Czech Republic) directed by Anna Domček and Šimon Domček and produced by Escadra (SK) and Jiří Konečný of Endorfilm (CZ), both in world premiers.

👀 Finally, the Special Screenings program delivers 🎬 Everything As It Should Be by Bohdan Karásek, produced by Ondřej Lukeš of Beginner's Mind, 🎬 Gregorius, the Chosen One (Czech Republic, Poland, Romania) directed by Tomasz Mielnik and produced by Mikuláš Novotný of Background Films, 🎬 A Pint of Ink (Czech Republic, Slovakia) directed by Ester Geislerová and produced by Ondřej Trojan and Aňa Geislerová for Total HelpArt T.H.A., 🎬 City of Fathers (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland) directed by Zdeněk Tyc and produced by Pavel a Eva Váchovi of Bratři, 🎬 Bára - Diary of a Rockstar, an intimate documentary portrait of Czech rock icon Bára Basiková, directed by Helena Třeštíková and produced by Pavel Strnad and Kateřina Černá of Negativ, 🎬 Robert Richardson: The White Devil directed by Jana Hojdová produced by Matěj Chlupáček, Jana Hojdová, Nela Schlaichertová and Maja Hamplová for Barletta Productions, 🎬 A Report for Minerva 2 directed by Miroslav Krobot and Lubomír Smékal and produced by Silvie Michajlova and Ondřej Zima of Film Kolektiv, and lastly Berlinale-premiered 🎬 If Pigeons Turned to Gold (Czech Republic, Slovakia) by Pepa Lubojacki, produced by Wanda Kaprálová and Klára Mamojková of CLAW films.
