Výstava maleb Dávida Čerťanského v Galerii PAF nazvaná Dno desktopu napodobuje plochu monitoru s překrývajícími se okny. Jeho malířský průzkum vidění vytváří rozhraní pro reflexi vizuálně-informačního přehlcení, těžby pozornosti i afektů. Cluster obrazů evokuje fenomén „sludge“ videí kombinujících nesouvisející obsahy, která mohou prohlubovat disociaci i podporovat pozornost. Motiv „úklidu plochy“ se promítá do organizace životů a otevírá otázku, jaké způsoby vidění nás znehybňují či naopak uvádějí do pohybu.

The presentation of paintings by Dávid Čerťanský at Galerie PAF, titled Bottom of the Desktop, mimics a computer screen with overlapping windows. His painterly exploration of ways of seeing creates an interface for reflecting on visual-information overload, the extraction of attention, and the circulation of affects. A cluster of paintings evokes the phenomenon of “sludge” videos – short clips combining unrelated content –which can both deepen dissociation and help sustain attention. The motif of “cleaning up the desktop” extends into the organization of individual and collective lives, raising the question of which modes of seeing immobilize us and which set us in motion.

INTRODUCING Dávid Čerťanský: Dno desktopu ✨
Dávid Čerťanský je malíř žijící v Praze. Absolvoval Akademii výtvarných umění v Praze (2023) a získal ocenění Kunstpreis der Roland Gräfe Stiftung.

Ve své tvorbě zkoumá percepci obrazu, vizuální iluzi a princip „obrazu v obraze“. Jeho malby oscilují mezi rafinovanou malířskou strategií a záměrnou jednoduchostí, přičemž využívají historické techniky, zcizující prvky a prolínání různých vizuálních kódů. Často pracuje s vícevrstvou kompozicí a několika obrazovými plány, které umožňují simultánní sledování různých významových rovin. Čerťanského malby lze chápat jako experimenty s vizuální reprezentací, které narušují běžné způsoby vnímání a staví diváka do pozice aktivního interpreta obrazu.

Dávid Čerťanský is a Prague-based painter. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2023) and received the Kunstpreis der Roland Gräfe Stiftung.

In his work, he explores the perception of images, visual illusion, and the principle of “picture within a picture.” His paintings oscillate between refined painterly strategies and deliberate simplicity through the use of historical techniques, alienating elements, and the interweaving of various visual codes. He often works with multi-layered compositions and several pictorial planes, which allow for the simultaneous reading of different levels of meaning. Čerťanský’s paintings can be understood as experiments in visual representation that disrupt common modes of perception and place the viewer in the role of an active interpreter of the image.
