In Pinyin like in most tribes of the Widikum extraction in the Northwest Region, especially in Mezam and Momo Division respectively, the Mendere is more that a dance. It is a strong institution of the Royal Court. It is the Royal Orchestra. In context, the mendere is the "military band" of the kingdom. It accompanies/ushers the Monarch during solemn and important events and ceremonies. It is a royal dance that in performed in honour of the Monarch, in the name of the Monarch, and in the presence (physical or spiritual) of the Monarch. The mendere incarnates/evokes power, authority, bravery and victory. That is why it accompanies the Monarch at the warfront, during festivals, to receive important dignitaries, to mourn/celebrate members and friends of the Throne as decided/authorized by the Monarch . The mendere song is the second war song after the "ale'te song. The most outstanding feature of mendere is the unfailing presence of Royal Sceptre, everywhere mendere goes. Little wonder, the Royal Sceptre (staff) is the strongest symbol of authority in the land!

It was a momentous, unique and unprecedented event in Pinyin on 11 April, 2025, as Pinyin sons and daughters from the four corners of planet earth, turned out in their thousands to witness the enthronment of the 15th Monarch of the Mulu’penne Dynasty, Atsaapifo Kenneth KHAN ASOBO III, Paramount Ruler of the Pinyin Clan. The "once in a lifetime" event that took place on the esplanade of the ultra modern Pinyin Clan Palace under construction was conducted under the watch and supervision of the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam Division, accompanied/assisted by the Divisional Officer for Santa Subdivision.
