It is World Diabetes Day!!!

World Diabetes Day (WDD) was created in 1991 by the IDF (International Diabetes Federation) and the World Health Organization in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes.

World Diabetes Day became an official United Nations Day in 2006. It is marked every year on the 14th November and the campaign focuses on a dedicated theme that runs for one or more years. The theme for World Diabetes Day 2020 is The Nurse and Diabetes.

The campaign is represented by a blue circle logo which is the global symbol for diabetes awareness. It signifies the unity of the global diabetes community in response to diabetes.

The best way for you (whether you are diabetic or not) to participate in this important global campaign is to get to a health facility and check your Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS), especially if it's been long since you lastly did that. It might be late by now because you surely must have eaten or drank something since this morning; but you can still plan to that tomorrow first thing in the morning, with your stomach empty. The test is very fast and doesn't cost more than 1000 FCFA.
