Writing keeps pulling me back into childhood. I loved and believed all the stories and fairytales my great-grandfather used to tell me, but if you’d told me that one day I’d write about the Lenin Curse and wind up on a page featuring both our faces, I’m not sure I would have believed it. Yet here we are, just as Lenin is still napping in the Red Square. (I hope one day to write a different, happier kind of Russian story, too.)

Luckily, one of the most beautiful streets in Basel is also the best (bumpiest) for getting a little person to sleep.
