Who’s ready for some serious beach vibes?

Flashback to that golden evening sunshine on Kitsilano Beach when the mercury hit a perfect 28°C (82.4°F).

Gazing across the fenced Kitsilano Pool, over English Bay and Kits Beach, past the Boathouse Restaurant patio (which Hawksworth is taking over this year), the lifeguard station, one of the graceful weeping willows, and all the way to the West End skyline.

🍳🥓🥞 More Ovaltine, Please! ☕ One of Vancouver’s oldest continuously operating restaurants known for it’s preserved 1940’s charm. The Ovaltine Cafe is a classic diner on East Hastings Street in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside (DTES) neighbourhood. Known for its ultra-affordable, hearty meals, and role as a community fixture.

Inside the diner, the traditional decor has barely changed over the decades... a long Formica counter lined with fixed red vinyl stools, cozy booths, mirrors, varnished woodwork, and art deco details. A rare survivor of Vancouver's mid-20th-century diner culture, largely unaltered amongst the evolving city around it.

This cafe opened in 1942 inside the 114-year-old Afton Hotel building (built in 1912 and originally an apartment building).

Fun fact: In 2018, the British newspaper “The Telegraph” named the Ovaltine one of the "50 greatest cafes on Earth," praising its retro furnishings and vintage feel.
