Today, on Red Dress Day, the Women in Leadership Foundation honours Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People. We remember those whose lives were taken too soon and stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities across Canada.
As an organization committed to inclusive leadership, we recognize the importance of amplifying Indigenous voices and advocating for justice, safety, and systemic change.

Taking Control of Time and Energy
In Part 7 of her WIL blog series, Penny Izlakar reflects on what it truly means to take control of your time and energy as a leader. She shares how early leadership often comes with the pressure to be constantly available, and how that mindset can quickly lead to burnout and reactive decision making.
Through her own experience, she explores the shift from being busy to being purposeful, and how protecting your calendar can help clarify priorities and improve effectiveness. She also introduces practical strategies such as time blocking, creating no meeting zones, and conducting energy audits to better align work with peak performance.
A thoughtful read for anyone looking to lead more intentionally, reduce overwhelm, and create space for strategic thinking.
