Bino a revu un vétérinaire ce matin pour des tests diagnostiques. Nous sommes tellement fiers de notre gros toutou! Il a été d’une douceur incroyable tout au long de son rendez-vous.

Dans le cadre de la visite d’aujourd’hui, un bilan sanguin gériatrique complet ainsi qu’un test SNAP 4Dx ont été effectués. Les résultats ont permis d’écarter les maladies transmises par les tiques ainsi qu’un dysfonctionnement des organes. La seule anomalie relevée est une légère augmentation des neutrophiles.

Bino a également subi un examen neurologique. Bien qu’il fasse toujours face à d’importants défis sur le plan de la mobilité, il a démontré certaines réponses neurologiques qui nous donnent de l’espoir.

À l’heure actuelle, la cause exacte de sa condition demeure inconnue. Comme Bino a montré une réponse positive aux stéroïdes, un processus inflammatoire ou à médiation immunitaire demeure une possibilité et nous poursuivrons donc le plan de traitement actuel. Nous réévaluerons son état dans une semaine.

Nous avons ajouté une copie de la facture d’aujourd’hui à la collecte de fonds pour ceux qui souhaiteraient contribuer. La facture s’élève à 595,84 $. Le montant totale a été payé de notre poche puisque nous n’avons actuellement aucun fonds disponibles. Toute contribution pour nous aider à couvrir cette facture serait grandement appréciée.

La photo du haut a été prise mardi. À ce moment-là, Bino était incapable de maintenir une position sternale par lui-même. À moins d’être placé dans cette position, il demeurait couché sur le côté puisqu’il n’avait tout simplement pas la force nécessaire pour soutenir son corps. Il arrivait à peine à lever la tête.

La photo du bas a été prise ce matin à son arrivée à la clinique vétérinaire. Il est maintenant capable de demeurer en position sternale et de se repositionner de façon autonome!

Bino ne peut toujours pas se tenir debout ni marcher. Plusieurs personnes nous ont demandé pourquoi nous ne lui procurions pas simplement une chaise roulante. Malheureusement, Bino n’est pas un candidat pour un fauteuil roulant en ce moment. Il n’a pas suffisamment de force ni de fonction dans ses membres pour pouvoir l’utiliser, qu’il s’agisse d’une chaise roulante ou même d’une chaise roulante avec 4 roues. Pour le moment, notre priorité demeure le traitement, les soins de soutien et tout ce qui peut l’aider à retrouver le plus de force et de fonctions possible.

Bien que son plan de traitement soit une partie importante du parcours de Bino, nous croyons que l’amour qu’il reçoit chaque jour joue un rôle tout aussi important dans ses progrès, et cela, c’est grâce à sa maman d’accueil, Joy. Bino est le plus doux des chiens, mais il représente aussi 82 livres d’amour! Prendre soin d’un chien qui ne peut ni se lever ni marcher demande énormément de temps, de patience, de dévouement et d’efforts physiques. Joy fait un travail absolument remarquable avec lui, et Bino l’adore!

J’ai dit à Joy ce matin que j’ai l’impression que Bino a enfin quelqu’un pour qui se battre. Il s’est attaché à elle si vite et, pour la première fois de sa vie peut-être, il découvre ce que signifie être aimé et en sécurité.

Son corps ne fonctionne pas comme il le devrait en ce moment, mais son esprit, lui, est bien présent. Et cette queue qui remue, et son regard, ils racontent une histoire à eux seuls. Chaque fois qu’il voit Joy, ils semblent dire la même chose : merci!

Nous ne pourrions pas faire tout cela sans elle et nous sommes profondément reconnaissants pour tout ce qu’elle fait pour notre Bino Bear. ❤️

Bino saw a veterinarian again this morning for further assessment and diagnostic testing. We are so proud of our big guy! He did so well and was such a sweet, patient boy!

As part of today’s visit, a comprehensive geriatric bloodwork profile and SNAP 4Dx test were performed. The results ruled out tick-borne diseases and organ dysfunction. The only notable finding was a mild elevation in neutrophils.

Bino also underwent a neurological examination. While he still faces significant mobility challenges, he demonstrated neurological responses that keep us hopeful as we move forward with treatment and supportive care.

At this time, the exact cause of Bino’s condition remains unknown. Because Bino has shown a positive response to steroids, an inflammatory or immune-mediated process remains a possibility and we will continue with his current treatment plan. We will reassess in one week.

We have included a copy of today’s invoice in the fundraiser for anyone who would like to donate. Today’s bill came to $595.84. The bill was paid out of pocket as we don’t have any rescue funds available, so any help to cover today’s bill would be greatly appreciated.

The photo at the top was taken on Tuesday. At that time, Bino was unable to maintain a sternal position on his own. Unless he was physically placed in that position, he remained on his side because he simply didn’t have the strength to support himself. He could barely even lift his head.

The photo at the bottom was taken this morning as Bino arrived for his veterinary appointment. He is able to remain upright and reposition himself independently!

Bino still cannot stand or walk. We’ve been asked why we don’t simply get him a wheelchair. Unfortunately, Bino is not a candidate for one at this time. Right now, he does not have enough strength or function in any of his limbs, and he would not be able to use either a traditional wheelchair or even a quad cart. Our focus right now remains on treatment, supportive care, and helping him regain as much strength and function as possible.

While his treatment plan is an important part of Bino’s journey, we believe the love he feels every day is playing an equally important role in his progress, and that is thanks to his foster mom, Joy. Bino is the sweetest boy, but he is also 82 pounds of love! Caring for a dog who cannot stand or walk is physically demanding and requires an enormous amount of time, patience, and dedication. Joy has done an incredible job caring for him, and Bino absolutely adores her!

I told Joy this morning that it feels like Bino finally has someone to fight for. He has become so attached to her in such a short time, and for perhaps the first time in his life, he is experiencing what it feels like to be loved, safe, and properly cared for.

His body is not functioning the way it should right now, but his mind is fully there. And that tail of his, and his eyes, they tell a story all on their own! Every time he sees Joy, they seem to say the same thing: thank you!

We could not do this without her, and we are so grateful for everything she is doing for our Bino Bear. ❤️
