I am so saddened by the passing of the great Tommy Gayford, a fixture on our Canadian Equestrian Team landscape for so many years.

Coach Tom left an indelible mark on our sport as a rider, a trainer, a chef d’équipe and a quintessential horseman. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity he gave me to represent Canada on my first Nation’s Cup Team and the guidance and leadership he provided for many years after.

He was a man of integrity and strength who instilled in all his team riders the privilege and responsibility that came with representing our home country.

Thank you Tommy for the lessons learned and your legacy that will never be forgotten. You were a gentleman.

My thoughts are with the Gayford family at this very sad time. 🇨🇦
