When I first joined Toastmasters Club, Table Topics seemed so scary to me.
Now, moments like this, winning Table Topics at the Eglinton Yonge Toastmasters Club remind me how far I’ve come.
What Table Topics has taught me:
🔶 Quick thinking is a skill you can train.
🔶Your accent is part of your story.
🔶 Confidence grows with every attempt.
If you’ve ever wanted to think faster on your feet,
sharpen your communication skills,
ace those unstructured questions during interviews
or simply surprise yourself with what you’re capable of...
I encourage you to experience Toastmasters.

Yesterday, while walking down the street and savouring the last day of summer before the school year begins, my husband nudged me and pointed out a t-shirt someone was wearing.
The words stopped me as I asked for permission to take the picture below.
🎨 “You are the artist of your own life.
Don’t hand the paintbrush to anyone else.
Follow your inner flame to pursue your dreams.”
As someone who loves art, this quote spoke right to my heart.
It also reminded me of something I see every day in the journeys of newcomers and immigrants to Canada.
When you arrive in this country, it can feel like everyone else is holding the paintbrush. Employers, recruiters, “Canadian experience” requirements, even well-meaning friends who say, “You should try this instead.”
But your life is still your canvas.
Your unique skills, stories, and experiences are the colours only you can bring to it.
🔸Update your resume
🔸Learn how to network
🔸Adapt to the job market. BUT.....
Never forget, you are the one who decides what masterpiece you’re creating. Don’t let fear, doubt, or external pressure paint over your inner flame.
🧡 To every newcomer starting a new chapter, this fall: keep the brush in your hand.
Your journey in Canada is about blending your past experiences with new opportunities to create something extraordinary.
🔸 How are you painting your canvas this season?

And just like that.... summer break is over. For many parents here, September means the return of routines and fresh starts.
Happy back-to-school season! 😀
This summer, I made the choice to be fully present with my children. That also meant no time for social media, and I know many parents can relate.
For me, September always feels like a reset as I step back into structure and rhythm.
If you’re returning from vacation, stepping into new projects, or looking to refocus,
I hope this season brings the energy and discipline needed to restart and keep moving forward.
What new beginning are you choosing this September?
🎊Happy long weekend!
