These cake pops were designed about 10 years ago for a Black History Month event, each one featuring Adinkra symbols that speak to wisdom, strength, resilience, and unity.

In today’s climate, being Black (or a person of colour) can feel especially unsettling at times. Coming back to these symbols is a reminder of who we are, where we come from, and the strength that has always carried us forward. Their meaning feels just as relevant now as it did then, if not more.

My artistry, even in edible form, holds history, pride, and quiet reminders that we are still here and still standing.

Happy Black History Month!
