When patience and perseverance pays off.

We stopped to photograph this beautiful little brown hooded kingfisher as it was perched nicely in the open. Very quickly, however, an elephant began to emerge into the backdrop – slowly getting closer and closer as it fed. It was a great photographic moment; with the small and fragile bird juxtaposed against the giant and powerful. It took a while for the two to line up perfectly, with the elephant well and truly filling the frame, but it was well worth the long and anxious wait – and I’ll give extra brownie points to the bird for being so patient and not flying off. Despite how connected they may seem in this photo, neither subject cared in the slightest about the other.

Did you know that the kingfisher weighs about 60 grams whereas the elephant would weigh about 6,000 kilograms – that’s 100,000 times heavier! 😳🤯
