Taylor (she/her) is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on the birthplace of planets, the protoplanetary disk, and she is generally interested in how the protoplanetary disk can affect the planets that eventually form from it. Taylor did her Bachelors degree at Quest University Canada and, after her defence in a couple of weeks, will continue her work as a postdoctoral fellow at Lowell Observatory.
Taylor also works on various outreach and community initiatives and is a strong advocate for creating inclusive spaces within astronomy. She is the first in her family to attend University and the first to obtain a graduate degree. When she isnβt doing astronomy, she loves to spend her time outside with her rescue dog, Shanty. βοΈπͺπΆ

Meet Bolin Fan (he/him), our lecturer on the Cosmic Microwave Background for our upcoming workshop! Bolin is a PhD candidate at the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto. He works on a bunch of image analysis projects applied to cosmology. Some of his projects include using machine learning to detect structures in the early universe as well as short-lived transient signals in the sky. He is very interested in how techniques used in different areas of science can be applied to each other. Bolin works with a group of wonderful biologists to use software for detecting things like supernovae to detect signals in the brain! Outside of work, he likes to set up terrariums for pets, like dart frogs and centipedes! ππΈπ
