Are you really "single" or somewhere along the single scale? sociologist and Dateable Podcast co-host Julie Krafchick introduced this concept, pointing out that most people donât fall squarely into âsingleâ or âin a relationship.â Instead, they land somewhere along a spectrum.
As Julie describes it, the far left side of the scale represents âsingle AFâ with no romantic prospects, while the right side represents being âoff the market.â But in between lies a vast middle ground. Whether itâs casual dating, a situationship, friends with benefits, or an unrequited crush, most people have romantic or s*xual connections in their orbitâeven if theyâre technically âsingle.â
