The month of May marks Lyme Disease Awareness Month. As the weather warms up and we spend more time outdoors, it’s the perfect time to refresh our knowledge on how to stay safe from tick-borne illnesses.
Lyme disease is a significant public health issue in North America. Because early detection is the key to recovery, awareness is our best defense.
Here is how you can protect yourself, your family, and your pets this season:
🛡️ Prevention: Before You Go Out
Dress for Success: Wear long-sleeved shirts and tuck your pants into your socks. Light-colored clothing makes it much easier to spot a tiny tick hitching a ride.
Stay Center-Path: When hiking, stick to the middle of cleared trails to avoid brushing against tall grass and leaf litter where ticks thrive.
Let’s enjoy the outdoors safely this May! 🌲☀️
