Spirit houses' can be found outside many houses in Thailand and also in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. They are designed to provide shelter for spirits which may bring problems to the house or its occupants if they are unsatisfied. The shrines often include images or carved statues of animals or people. Offerings are left at the house to appease the spirits.

Koh Kood (also known as Koh K*t) lies in the far east of the Gulf of Thailand, close to the Cambodian border.
