Job Description:

Responsibilities
• Extensive experience in data analytics, Apache Spark, Event streaming, batch file processing, data ingestion, modelling, NoSQL database and reporting
• Requires a strong understanding of event streaming, data lineage and usage, data storage, modeling, and batch file processing
• Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability and high availability
• Experience (preferred) with large scale software development or application engineering with recent coding experience in Scala, Python or Java
• Experience with logging frameworks

Scope/Complexity of Work
The Lead Big Data Developer needs to passionately execute on high-quality deliverables as assigned. They will work collaboratively to ensure consistent and performant approaches for the entire user experience and analytic code developed inside the system.
• Contribute to Agile development methodology in terms of Sprint Planning
• Contribute high quality code and participate in code review and Sprint Demos.
• Implement stories and use-cases and keep task tracking updated.
• Driving the development of functional and system specifications
• Ensuring development and implementation of adequate testing strategies

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Experience developing scalable data platform leveraging HDFS, Hive, Spark, Kafka using Scala, Java or Python dealing with real-time streaming data, batch data and analytics
• Design and enhance features on all pieces of the platform
• Applying standards, process, and architectural improvements
• Apply high standards for performance, efficiency, testing, and scaling
• Experience working small, growing teams of engineering teams and are ready to make an immediate impact on the performance and stability of the platform
• Experience and comfort in collaborative working
• Detail-oriented and analytical approach to software engineering and are not afraid to make architectural decisions
• Be customer focused - learn about the business to help bring value to our customers
• Act technology driven - design, implement, and test new functionality

• 8 years relevant experience. Knowledge of the following: Java, NodeJS, Angular, HTTP, PKI, X509 Certificates, JWT, JWE, JWS, JWKS. Scripting Languages, e.g. Python, Node, Groovy, etc, used for File transformations, API calls, reporting Core development tools. Git, BitBucket, Jira, Confluence, Maven, npm, etc. RESTful API design, implementation, usage. Network engineering: Proxies, Firewalls.
• Good understanding of distributed components and services and their communication protocols with clients.
