About me

In the face of adversity, it is often our inner strength and determination that guide us towards making a difference. Today, I want to share my story, a story of love for my homeland, Ukraine, and my unwavering commitment to support those affected by the ongoing war. My name is Kateryna Livinska, a Ukrainian living in Toronto, Canada, studying civil engineering and striving to bring hope and normalcy back into the lives of my fellow countrymen.

A Deep Connection
Born and raised in the beautiful city of Kyiv, Ukraine, I cherished my early years in a country filled with rich history and vibrant culture. These memories have shaped who I am today. At the age of 16, I relocated to Toronto, leaving behind my family, friends, and the place I called home. Little did I know that Ukraine would soon be caught in the grips of a devastating war.

A Worried Heart
The news of the war in Ukraine struck me like a thunderbolt, leaving me deeply worried and anguished. I watched helplessly from afar as my beloved country faced unimaginable challenges. As the conflict unfolded, my determination to make a difference grew stronger with each passing day.

A Call to Action
In the summer of 2022 and 2023, I made visits back to Ukraine. Witnessing the scale of destruction in cities like Irpin', Bucha, Ozera village, Hostomel, and Horyanka, I was both inspired by the resilience of the Ukrainian people and disheartened by the devastation caused by the war. The lack of proper infrastructure, particularly in schools and kindergartens, struck a chord within me.

A Focused Mission
With a burning desire to contribute to the rebuilding efforts, I decided to direct my attention towards addressing the pressing needs of educational institutions in the affected regions. Education is the foundation upon which a nation's future is built, and it is crucial to ensure that children have access to safe and reliable transportation and learning environments.

A Bus for Hope
My primary goal is to raise enough funds to purchase a school bus for the children of Moschun and other villages in the Hostomel region. The bus will enable them to travel to and from their educational institutions without hurdles, giving them the opportunity to continue their education despite the challenging circumstances.

Building Safe Havens
In addition to providing transportation, I am also striving to secure modular bomb shelters for schools and kindergartens in the area. These shelters will offer a sense of security and protection during times of heightened danger, allowing children to focus on their studies and play without constant fear.

A Call for Support:
No endeavor can succeed without a collective effort. I am reaching out to individuals, organizations, and communities who share my passion for helping Ukraine in its time of need. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of countless children and families affected by the war.

As I continue my studies in Toronto, my heart remains with Ukraine and its people. I am committed to playing my part in rebuilding a country scarred by conflict, one step at a time. By focusing on the pressing needs of educational institutions, I hope to bring a glimmer of hope and a brighter future to the children of Ukraine.

Join me on this journey of hope and resilience. Let us come together, raise our voices, and extend a helping hand to those who need it the most. Together, we can make a difference and rebuild a stronger Ukraine.
