Instead of passively grading learners, involve them in the conversation about their grades provide learners an opportunity to talk about their learning.

• Consider their work efforts (portfolio).
• Consider the feedback they received.
• Consider the progress they have made in response to that feedback.

The grades should have purpose and that purpose should be clear to the learners too.
