Today was more than just a hair appointment.
Behind severe hair matting, there is often a story people can’t see at first glance — mental health struggles, physical illness, grief, depression, chronic pain, exhaustion, hospitalization, postpartum challenges, or simply trying to survive difficult seasons of life.
Hair can become overwhelming when someone is carrying so much already. And no one should ever feel ashamed for that.
This client trusted me during a very vulnerable moment, and my goal was not only to help restore their hair, but to provide compassion, patience, comfort, and dignity throughout the process.
If you or someone you know is struggling with severe tangling or matting, please know you are not alone, and you do not need to feel embarrassed to ask for help. My chair is a judgment-free space.
Sometimes self-care starts with one small step — and I’m always willing to listen, help, and support however I can. 🤍
