Happy tenth anniversary to this novel. After writing The Heart's Filthy Lesson, I definitely needed to focus on something a little lighter, and definitely with a happy ending. This story had come out of the many first draft notebooks I have, and the soundtrack to those writing sessions largely consisted of the Boney M Christmas album, And Tracey Thorn's Tinsel & Lights.

I still get messages from people who have picked up this novel about how much it means to them. This by far was one of my absolute favorite novels to write. Happy tenth. 🎄

So this is running a little late as I had posted something on some other social media outlets earlier, however today is the day the glow up was released to the world.

Drowned World turned fifteen years old on July 2nd. My first novel, a reflection of q***r love set to beats per minute had been out in the world for fifteen years. It had a long gestation over a number of years, part writers block, part distracted by other things in life. When I started writing that first draft, the thought of sharing it with the rest of the world was the furthest thing on my mind. I'd always let other people read my first drafts, to positive feedback.

The way it touched some of you was moving and meant the world to me. Crafting those characters, and telling their stories was without a doubt a labor of love. And as I work towards getting the third novel in the series completed and released, I thought it was appropriate to take a step and reflect on my debut.
