Little Milo needs our help! His owner can no longer care for him and he needs rescue due to his owner's health. We have been told that if we don't bring him into rescue, Milo will be put down. That's not meant as a threat, but rather that we are Milo's last stop for the owner. We won't let that happen. 🐾💕
In order to bring him into rescue, we need a foster or foster-to adopt home and are seeking help here.

Milo is a 10-year-old, neutered Chihuahua, weighing 3.7 kg who is looking for a quiet, loving home to spend his golden years.

Milo is the perfect combination of cuddly and independent. He loves being close to his people but is also content curling up on a chair for a long nap. His favourite place to be is burrowed under a cozy blanket, where he’s happiest.

He enjoys car rides, loves treats (and food in general!), and his favourite toys are squeaky chickens from Dollarama. Milo does well at the veterinarian and, although he shakes a little during nail trims, he is cooperative and allows them without any trouble.

Milo walks well on a leash and enjoys spending time outside. He does tend to wander, so he’ll need either a securely fenced yard or to be on a tie-out while outside.

While he can sleep in a crate if needed with lots of cosy blankets, he’d much rather curl up somewhere comfortable with his people.

Like many Chihuahuas, Milo is cautious around new people at first but warms up once he feels comfortable. He’s affectionate with those he trusts and enjoys being part of the family. He’s also good at communicating his boundaries and will let you know with a growl if he’s feeling overwhelmed and would like some space.

Milo’s ideal home would be with a quiet couple or individual who is home much of the time. He should also be the only pet in the home.

Milo's current owner puts a diaper on him so that he doesn't p*e in the house. We've been told they've had difficulty p*e pad training him. However he has used a p*e pad, and has done his business outside, so he is capable of those options. His new person should be patient and willing to work with him on this. It's possible that with other dogs in his current home, Milo could be seeking attention so is p*eing in the home for attention; hence the reason we are looking for a home where he'll be the only pet. We will support his foster or foster-to-adopt family in getting Milo trained, but you should be prepared to work with him daily. He's not going to change overnight, and he will likely need to be weaned off of wearing diapers. How long that will take is anyone's guess.

He will need to be trained as though you were housetraining a puppy which means taking him outside frequently and consistently and rewarding him when he does p*e outside.

Milo is a sweet little dog with lots of love to give. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who loves blankets, cozy evenings, treats, and being close to his people, Milo may be the perfect addition to your home.

If you're interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt Milo, please send an email to [email protected] and put Milo in the subject.
