Thank you to everyone who attended the Read and Relate event. Your presence and engagement truly made it an eventful time.
And we do appreciate Jim Mitchell for his time and insightful conversations. Truly the conversations around the book was timely. And the mix of experiences was a plus which further enriched the conversations.
Here are key themes we discussed:
- Rebalancing power between PMO, Cabinet, ministers, Parliament and the Public Service
- Productivity is a national emergency, both in the private sector and inside government itself
- Public service has grown by 40%+ since 2015 but delivers worse outcomes
- There is a need to restore fearless policy advice and a culture of excellence
- Sovereignty and defence are urgent priorities in a turbulent geopolitical era
- Canada can learn from Westminster reforms in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand
- Leadership is the 'magic sauce' to make all these right, and it is in short supply
To those who attended, feel free to add to the list in the comments. We invite everyone to share their perspectives on these highlighted issues. Would you agree? Why or why not?
We look forward to continuing the conversation here. TGIF๐
