People assume baby teeth don't count since they're coming out anyway. They count more than most parents realize. They shape how your child chews, talks, and how their adult smile comes in. Taking care of them now sets up everything that comes after.

Your pediatric dentist in Red Deer helping families understand why baby tooth health matters from day one.

Did you know pool water can affect your child's teeth?

Chlorinated pools can alter the chemistry of saliva, leading to a buildup of hard deposits on teeth called "swimmer's calculus," plus staining and, in heavy swimmers, enamel erosion. Casual splashing around? You're fine. But if your kid is swimming laps multiple times a week, it's worth knowing: rinse their mouth with fresh water after every swim, keep up twice-daily brushing with fluoride toothpaste, and mention it to us at their next checkup so we can keep an eye on things. Summer swim season is officially on, keep those smiles protected!

Meet Britt, one of our Registered Dental Hygienists! She grew up right here in Red Deer and has been in dentistry for 13 years, 6 of them with us. Once she found pediatric dentistry, she never looked back. Spending her days with kiddos, learning something new from them every single day? She wouldn't have it any other way.

What she loves most about her job? Getting those teeth clean and shiny, and the endless entertainment that comes with it. She says no two days are the same when kids are involved.

When she's not here you'll find her camping with her family, cheering on her kids at sports, or reading a book on the beach. Oh, and she can do a handstand, so that's always fun!

Her tip for parents? Stick to the basics. Brush twice a day, floss once a day, and come see us regularly. Simple stuff done consistently makes all the difference.
