Sunday, May 31. It’s my birthday. And I’m hosting a thing!

A Backstage Pass Birthday Bash Open House — a live online gathering on a Sunday (Full Moon, naturally) — and I’d love for you to come.

The Backstage Pass is a creative community membership where your creative life and wild ambitions are taken playfully seriously. We share the wins, the cringe, and how the heck to move at the pace of art when everything everywhere is happening all at once.

Come hang out. RSVP here:

I was supposed to be in Toronto right now and kicking off an Eastern Canadian tour of A Little Bit Much this Friday. But alas, plans have changed.

There’s been a medical emergency in my family, and I need to be home for a while. Details are not mine to share publicly at this time. Thanks for the well wishes from those of you who’ve already been notified through the venues, and please don’t worry.

New tour dates will be announced soon and are likely in early fall.

Hey there! I’m performing in Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia in April and I wanted to introduce myself!

I’m Chela and I’m the writer and performer of A Little Bit Much, a comedic one-woman show that seems to have a lasting impact on audiences!

I live in BC and am now touring in Eastern Canada. My background was not in the performing arts. I wrote this show as creative recovery and an existential reckoning of sorts.

A way to express - hey, all my life our overculture yells at me about all the things I’m supposed to be - skinny, hot, partnered, driven (but not too driven, ew), nurturing, rich (but not too rich you nasty capitalist), evolved, omg be so evolved like super zen and accepting but also like a good fiesty activist on the right side of history.

I just started writing about how exhausting that all is, the internalization of the things we’re supposed to be, that we never measure up to because there’s always the next thing we’re supposed to become or achieve and now that I’m in my 40’s the anti-aging industrial complex is coming for me hard.

All my life I’ve been driven in a “what’s the meaning of life” kind of way, (you know that person who’s insufferable at parties). This show is a love letter to the inquiry around muchness. Am I too much? Not enough? What of this culture? These expectations? How do we get out of it? Or change it? Or change ourselves? Can we just have a big laugh about it? And a big cry?

Yes, let’s do that. Let’s have a big laugh and cry about the intensity and absurdity of the whole shebang. That’s what we do at A Little Bit Much. I hope you’ll come. And bring your people. You’ll have lots to talk about after!
If you’ve already got your tix, please comment! Help the algo. Tag people you think should come! I promise to give you a great show.
