Some quieter, more textural moments from our ski days on Mt Klitsa.

We really enjoyed playing with shadows and light on the snow, and zooming in to find some really unique textures throughout the two days. Here are our favourites

How do you top off a perfect day of ski touring? In Japan, the answer is simple: onsen ♨️

After our day skiing Giant Ridge on Mt Furano, we drove another 2 minutes down the road to an unassuming parking area. From there, a short icy trail lead to this peaceful, free, open-air, non-gender divided onsen.

When we arrived, there were only a couple other tourists and one local. Most onsens are divided into two separate spaces by gender, and patrons typically soak n**e. Mixed-gender onsens generally require bathing suits to be worn. 👙

This onsen has a large wooden platform with a couple of benches for people to change and leave their things while soaking. There were two large pools with tubing bringing natural volcanically heated water in and out. We spent most of our time in the lower pool which was a pleasant "hot tub" temperature. The upper pool was quite scorching.. Katie spent a couple minutes in it but Ryan couldn't go in past his feet! 🥵

The other folks left shortly after we arrived and we had the place totally to ourselves for a little bit, before some other Canadians showed up 🇨🇦

After soaking our tired muscles, we had a delicious cooked-at-the-table dinner 🍽️
