Facebook Marketplace SCAM ALERT!

lately I have been selling several items on Facebook Marketplace.

I posted a couple of small items for $10 each, I was immediately contacted by someone who said they would e-transfer me immediately and pick up later!

(RED FLAG #1 Only accept payment when picked up)

I gave the person my email address and a few seconds later they contacted me about buying another item I listed ... exact same story

(RED FLAG #2) they didn't seem to realize I was the same person.

At this point I was suspicious and checked their profile and it was new and mostly blank and it appeared they were in Madagascar!

I then received an email which appeared to be a VERY convincing E-TRANSFER message with a click to deposit button .... but I have Auto Deposit turned on

(RED FLAG #3)

careful examination of the email showed it was NOT FROM THE BANK and the click to deposit button lead to a dangerous link probably designed to steal your banking info.

I immediately reported and blocked the guy

Be careful ! E-transfer fraud is on the rise

ALWAYS check the buyers profile before responding.

I am surprized my Norton Security software didn't flag this ?
