🐾✨ Alumni Peanut ✨🐾
Peanut found her forever home a year ago and has been living her best life alongside her sister (and former CHR alum), Posie. Together, they make quite the duo. Let's hear an update from Peanut's family:
"Time is such a weird thing; it feels like just yesterday we brought Peanut home but it also feels like she has been here forever! Peanut is such a smart dog (I have never called any of my past dogs smart!)! She has fit herself right into our routine and in some ways has made it better.
Posie—who you may not know is also a CHR aluma we adopted in March 2023—came with a lot of baggage and fear. She was afraid of everything, she wouldn’t eat if we could see her, she rarely made a sound. At the dog park she opened up around other dogs and tested her voice while chasing a ball. That’s what led us to looking for a second dog. Posie has found her voice. First it was just when she was playing with Peanut but now she talks to us all the time.
Peanut is now fully-house trained and the crate has been put away. Posie and Peanut sleep together, play together, share all their toys, groom each other, respect each other's boundaries (mostly, Peanut is a loveable devil!), but most of all I think they truly love each other.
And we love Peanut too! She is playful, adorable, silly, clumsy, cuddly, and she reminds me of the Tasmanian devil from the bugs bunny cartoons! They are quite a pair and have been great for each other.
The best thing we have noticed in the past month is that Peanut’s tail is almost always up and often wagging. It was down most of the time for the first several months. Posie’s tail, on the other hand, has not stopped wagging since Peanut came home.
And lastly, and most shockingly, Peanut loves the snow! First snowfall I opened the back door she hopped out, ran around, and tried to eat it! She’s never looked back and is a bonafide snow bunny!"

Meet Tayto Your Loyal, Happy Little Shadow
Tayto is the kind of dog who lives life with a permanent smile and a quirky tail that never stops wagging to match. If first impressions matter, Tayto has already decided you're her new best friend. She greets everyone with enthusiasm, warmth, and just the right amount of 'I'm so excited you're here!' energy.
Her personality is a wonderful blend of social butterfly, playful goofball, curious explorer, and devoted companion. She truly loves being around people and takes her self-appointed role as your shadow very seriously - you go to the kitchen, she goes to the kitchen. You go to the living room, she goes to the living room. You sit down, she's right there, ready for cuddles. It's less alone time and more together time, which, according to Tayto, is exactly how life should be.
Tayto has a moderate to high energy level, so she's happiest in a home that enjoys a mix of activity and relaxation. She loves walks, especially when she can stop and sniff everything along the way (she considers this very important investigative work). She also enjoys playtime and toys, but she's just as content winding down afterward for some quality cuddle time.
Socially, Tayto is friendly and affectionate, forming bonds quickly and only becoming more loving with time (and yes, she's a fan of giving kisses). She would likely do best in a home with older children (10+), as quick or unpredictable movements from younger kids can make her a bit unsure. She gets along well with dogs she knows and enjoys playtime, though she does prefer her meals and cozy resting spots in an area without canine competition.
If your'e looking for a sweet, playful, and devoted companion who will happily stick by your side through it all... Tayto may just be your perfect match! Apply to meet her at www.caninehaven.org/dog-application
