We made a BIG move to Grimsby, Ontario, back to a small town just like the one I grew up in, and let me tell you: it has been so healthy for me in countless ways.

Living in Toronto for 15 years (most recently 2 years in Oakville) was amazing, filled with endless opportunities, energy and excitement. It served a time and purpose in my life and I’m forever grateful for my life in the city.

But as life progressed, I realized that what truly mattered to me was something more…I wanted to build roots and be part of a community, and AFFORDABILITY was also a key factor!!!

We bought a house right across from the lake (I can still see Toronto!), we packed the moving truck, bid farewell to the old house, and we are embracing the charms of country (wine country!) life.

Our house cost us much less than we would have paid closer to the city and we have a way bigger property, lake views, enough room to grow as a family and we’re customizing it to our needs by completely renovating the entire home (which we were able to do comfortably at a lower price point).

It’s everything I never thought I wanted or would do, but I’ve discovered how much I needed it since being here.

I used to fear that moving out of the city would leave me isolated, but it’s an hour to Toronto and 30mins or less to wherever you need to go. To fly, we fly out of Buffalo!

The slower pace and the close-knit community have truly worked their magic on me. It’s like reconnecting with my inner child and finding joy in simple pleasures again. Waking up to the sound of loons is also the best!

We’re surrounded by endless possibilities for adventure here - lots of swimming and in the winter skating/hockey, boot around in dirtbikes to your neighbours house, and being part of a tight knit neighbourhood where everyone looks out for each other.

I couldn’t be more grateful for this new chapter in our lives.

Are you thinking about moving outside of Toronto to get more for your buck?

Reach out and we can chat - I have all the great tips to transition!
