My last post on This Page (as Former TGTBT employee)

As many of you know, I was deeply involved in running day-to-day operations at Too Good to Be True. While the store served our community for years, financial issues outside of my control led to its closure. As of February 1st, the store was locked out due to several months of financial difficulties. While I managed stocking, customer service, and daily operations, financial matters were solely in the hands of the owner. Unfortunately, this has left many—including myself, employees, co-signers, and the building’s owner—in a tough spot.

At this point, I want to be clear: I am no longer employed by Too Good to Be True, and I have little to no more information than you do. We’ve all been waiting on a solution for weeks, and at this point, my husband and I have decided to take matters into our own hands—both for our own financial security and out of moral responsibility to the community.

A New Business, A Fresh Start

Rather than letting a great idea disappear entirely, we are launching our own independently owned business—built with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to doing things differently.

What’s changing?
✔ Same-day payouts – No waiting, no payment requests, no uncertainty.
✔ Outright purchases – Items will be sorted, assessed, and processed immediately, ensuring cash for your items on the spot.
✔ A fresh start – A brand-new business, separate from past financial issues, with fairness and transparency at its core.

What Happens Now?

To be clear, Too Good to Be True and any outstanding financial obligations remain the responsibility of its previous owner. Our new business is completely separate and will not assume any of those debts or store credits.

However, I understand everyone’s frustrations , myself included , and because I care deeply about our customers and community, we are working with the building owner to allow access to the former store. This will give previous sellers a chance to:
✔ Retrieve any unsold inventory
✔ Accept a one-time 20% buyout offer (for those who prefer an immediate cash option)
✔ Discuss potential purchases of remaining backroom inventory

This is not a reopening of the former store. This is a new business with new ownership. But before we launch , I wanted to provide some closure from my perspective and ensure that sellers have an opportunity to reclaim their items. As of now, everything has been sitting untouched since the closure.

Moving Forward

While we are still finalizing details, my goal is simple: to build trust, serve our community, and create a store that truly works for everyone. I hope the separation is clear and that we have your support as we work to revamp an existing service and keep a great idea alive.

I won’t be posting on this page again, so for updates on our new business, please Follow/Like/Share our pages as I would LOVE to have support from all the amazing people I have met over the last 5 years!

Important Announcement: Closing Our Doors

For over 11 years, since November 2013, we have had the honour of welcoming consignors and customers into our store. It has been an incredible journey, and we are so proud to have supported countless families, charities, fundraisers, and other local small businesses along the way.

Our mission has always been to help growing families by providing a safe, clean, and affordable way to buy and sell gently loved items. We’ve also been committed to strengthening our local economy, creating jobs for families and students over the years. Raising a family can be overwhelming and expensive, and we are truly honoured to have been a part of so many family's stories.

Unfortunately, for personal health and family reasons, I have made the very difficult decision to step away. Despite our best efforts—including moving to a new location—the rising costs of running a small business in today’s economy have made it unsustainable.

Over the past few weeks, we have worked tirelessly to explore every possible option to reopen, including seeking a new operator who could take the store in a fresh direction. However, it is now time to officially announce that we must close our doors permanently.

We also want to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank our amazing staff, past and present, for their hard work, dedication, and passion. Your efforts have been the heart of this business, and we are beyond grateful for everything you have done.

In the coming weeks, we will be working closely with our consignors to return items and settle accounts. We appreciate your patience and support during this transition and will provide further details soon.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this journey. Your support, kindness, and loyalty have meant everything.
