This , we're looking at Kyarah ()!

"I am currently working as a recreation professional in a long-term care home in Kingston, Canada. I have a diploma in Social Service Work and a Post Grad Certificate in Therapeutic Recreation. What I love about this career is the fact that every day is a different adventure. In my field, I am blessed to connect with my residents and learn their stories. You gain some connections you will never forget. The amazing part is seeing the activities I provide bringing joy into their days and finding positive outlets for my residents. I think advocation is something that is really important in this career so we continue to be recognized as valuable members of the care team. I am very passionate about this career and the people I get to work with every day. I love to continue learning and growing both as an individual and as a professional.” Follow and connect with Kyarah at on Instagram!

It's ! Today, we are featuring Michaella (Mishella) who has been a CTRS for the last 4 years.

"I graduated from the University of Regina with a degree in Sport & Recreation Studies, majoring in Therapeutic Recreation and also have a minor in Psychology!

My passion is to work with individuals with a history of mental health, addiction, and homelessness! I have had the privilege to work with at-risk youth, homeless populations, addiction, mental health, geriatrics in acute care and long-term care setting!

I deeply want our profession to be regulated and protected to keep our vulnerable clients safe while keeping us RecT’s ACCOUNTABLE.

From the last 5 years of working in this profession, my advice is to keep on advocating and networking, it’s gotten me so far! The more you network the more people you have in your circle of support who know the struggle."
