Drive-by Tourists

Grand Coulee Dam, Washington

On our way to Yellowstone, we stopped over at Grand Coulee Dam and the surrounding area for a few days in late April.
The geology, and history of the coulee is fascinating - created and carved by multiple floods created when Montana area ice dams collapsed at the end of the last ice age.

The worlds larges sand pile - a remnant of dam construction was a cool thing to see as well!

Mayfield Lake Park(Washington) Campground

We had the entire place to ourselves for a whole week!!!
When I got tired of driving in late April, I turned at the first sign I saw for a campground. Located on a resevoir operated by Tacoma Power, we filled out the form at the kiosk and picked a site.
Five days later when we left - we were still the only ones there! Gorgeous little campround with all the amenities and beautiful views

Dungeness River Nature Center / Olympic BirdFEST
While on a stockup trip in mid-April, we stumbled onto signs directing us to the annual birding festival in Sequim on the northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula. The Dungeness River serves as the backdrop for the Dungeness River Nature Center.
Jeannie and I toured the exhibits and hiked a bit of the path over the river.
The staff was very helpful. We helped the cause with buying a few raffle tickets.
