An IME sounds like a routine medical appointment. It is not.

It is an examination with a doctor chosen and paid for by the insurance company, and their report can be used to downplay your injuries or push you back to work sooner than your own doctor recommends.

You have rights before, during, and after that appointment. If you have been asked to attend an IME, talk to a lawyer first.
