Happy World Environment Day!
We hope you can take some time today to appreciate the natural world around you!
The United Nations started this global celebration in June 1973. Every year, it's a unique theme with a different host country.
For 2026, the focus is on climate action, with Azerbaijan serving as the global host.
This day is an annual reminder to raise awareness about the serious challenges facing our planet and to take meaningful action to protect it.
As this day is also in the middle of Ocean Week, it is a perfect time to reflect on how our everyday choices impact our massive aquatic ecosystems.
You can start taking action against climate change right from your own home. Here are a few ways to make a difference:
- Reduce your overall consumption and waste.
- Maximize energy efficiency in your daily routines.
- Support local organizations working to protect the Earth.
Every small habit contributes to a larger collective impact. Let us use today to recommit to safeguarding our blue planet.

Did you know today is Endangered Species Day?
This day was first launched in 2006 by the Endangered Species Coalition to raise awareness for endangered species and to honour and acknowledge the Endangered Species Act.
Animals and plants can become endangered for a variety of different reasons. However, the primary reason for a species becoming endangered is due to direct or indirect human influences, such as overfishing, habitat destruction, or pollution.
You can help endangered species by reporting their sightings on citizen science apps, such as iNaturalist, and learning more about at-risk species in your area and how you can help them.
Celebrate the day by going to a zoo or aquarium, volunteering for conservation groups, or letting someone else know about the day!
