Small Decisions
I really wanted this space to feel beautiful — not just “nice" and not like an office, but a place that quietly inspires you the moment you walk in.
This part was intense… painting, adding lights, moving things around, rethinking every corner. So many little details, so many decisions to make.
But I wasn’t doing it alone. My family, friends, and even the support and encouragement from my students — it all carried me through this stage.
It was still nerve-wracking at times, but somehow it felt lighter knowing how many people were behind it.
More soon ✨

I saw this fabric and immediately thought: coat.
Not just any coat — the kind that walks into the room before you do.
Then the doubts kicked in.
Because pieces like this… well, they require a certain presence.
Otherwise it’s not you wearing the coat — it’s the coat wearing you.
There’s exactly one person I know who can pull that off: my husband.
(He wears drama like it’s a basic.)
He saw the fabric — zero hesitation. “Yes.”
I still wasn’t fully convinced.
Fast forward: 5 hours before his birthday dinner, guests on the way.
And I’m like, okay… now or never.
So I start cutting, sewing… and suddenly everything goes suspiciously well.
The pattern fits. The sleeve fits. Everything fits.
I try it on mid-process (as always)…
and realize I want one too.
And yes… the scale of the person and the ambition of the fabric kind of have to match.
And yes, I didn’t get it wrong.
They found each other — the coat and the person.
It’s very, very him.

What to Expect at Your First Sewing Camp
Students walk in on Monday never having touched a sewing machine before. By Friday, they’ve learned how to use the machine safely, understand the basics of how things are constructed, and go home with a bunch of handmade projects they’re genuinely proud of. We focus on making real things from the very beginning, so they’re learning skills while having fun and being creative.
So, what does our March Break Camp look like for first time students?
We begin with sewing machine basics and safety.
Then build skills step by step through foundational projects instead of boring drills:
• Pillow
• Personalised plushie
• Tote bag
These create the base.
As experience and confidence grows, students move on to:
• Simple skirts
• Beginner pants
• Easy dresses
• Cool bags
• More complex toys
By Friday, they don’t just finish projects - they understand how garments are made and how ideas become real pieces.
At the same time, our returning students will be working nearby on advanced projects - including beautiful graduation dresses. It’s always inspiring to see what’s possible next.
🏫 This March Break also opens the doors to our brand new, expanded studio space — just steps from our current Warden & Steeles location in Markham.
