Looking to get more out of your day?
Do you feel like you have so much to do but can’t seem to organize your brain to get it all done?
I’ve been there.
Scratch that, I’m there pretty frequently actually. But when I started incorporating time blocking into my day, I realized I could achieve it all and more.
And no, I’m not telling you to grind it out for 16 hours every day filling every hour with tasks and obligations. With time blocking you can and should add in self care, alone time, family time, work time etc.
We’re anti grind culture over here ❌
As a stay at home mom, I find planning out how I’m going to entertain the toddler simultaneously while planning out my day ex. Screen time, a craft, snacks etc. helps ensure I carve out the time I need in order to follow my schedule.
With that all said, we’re also against rigidity. Allow flow into your schedule, this serves as a guideline for you to help organize your brain a bit. Sometimes we can’t control a sick kid who only wants cuddles or when our body is screaming at us to have a couch day.
One of the most impactful ways to support yourself when creating new habits and routines is to not be hard on yourself when you “mess” up. It’s bound to happen and further to that, it should happen because we’re human and it’s part of our learning process.
Did you know it’s often the self hate talk, guilt and shame we put on ourselves that holds us back from showing up after we fall off our new routine?
It’s important to not only allow our human-ness to shine through, but to embrace its messiness.
What I love about time blocking, is it really made me accountable for all of my awake hours. I was shocked when I realized I’m up for 16 hours a day yet seem to never have time to do anything. Laying it out really helped my visual brain connect to the amount of time I actually have.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on time blocking. Do you have an intentional schedule you follow? Maybe you’ve fallen into one naturally that works for you. I’d love to hear ☺️
